Pierre Galopin, who graduated from Rennes School of Fine Art in 2008, has produced paintings characterized by an economy of means be it in composition, colour, application or movement. The principal intention underlying his work is to « Paint the entire surface of a canvas in an automatic and logical manner ». He has abandoned pigments in favour of varnishes whose physical qualities of transparency and fluidity he puts to effective use. The effect produced, random contractions or repulsions of surface and form, depend on the quality of varnish, the accessory used, the movement of the artist’s hand and above all the unpredictable interaction of these diverse elements.
Pierre Galopin is born in 1984.
