Galerie Fatiha Selam, Paris is proud to present its first British exhibition, ‘SYNTHES/S of all that went before’. This group exhibition from one of Paris’s most talked-about young galleries can be found in gallery 6 of the Averard Hotel, London, from 6th to 28th February 2016. In a hiatus between its former life as a hotel and the arrival of developers, the building has been stripped back to its 1850’s architectural interior, providing a perfect backdrop to contemporary art from galleries from around the world.
05 February- 04 March 2015
Galerie Fatiha Selam is pleased to present the first ever solo exhibition of work by Pierre Galopin.
The young artist trained at Rennes School of Fine Art, graduating in 2008, and his subsequent career is marked by a commitment to the techniques taught there. The challenge he has set himself takes the form of a question : how can an artist continue painting today ? He approaches the problem from a technical angle, carrying out scrupulous tests and developing a « painting cuisine » in an effort to attain his goal : to cover a surface to aesthetic effect.
The entire canvas resonnates with a unique harmony. The transparency of the layers of varnish, alternating between matt and gloss and covered with diverse microscopic contours are achieved through a skilful combination of processes. In voluntarily cultivating this economy of means, Pierre Galopin proves that less can be more.
