October 29th – November 8th, 2015
Galerie Fatiha Selam is happy to invite Studiocur/Art for the exhibition Verto.
According to Michel Foucault, archaeology examines the traces and digressive orders left by the past, to write a ‘story of the present.’ But who tells of the story and discourse, tells of the interpretation and subjectivity. . . The works of four artists presented by Verto explores the different versions evoked during different stages of archaeological work. But they equally pose the question of archaeological treatment in the present, of the way in which our present history will be written by the archaeologists of the future.. the question of relation to fiction also doubles up as that of the relation of our time.
Between contemporary art and archaeology, between objective and fictional narrative, between the past, present and future..
Verto presents Patrick Hough and his video project, Object interviews, Ken Sortais and his narratives around castings objects in latex and public sculptures, Karen Kramer and his vision of current society as it will be symbolized in the future along with Theo Michael whose collages interrogate the subjective and incomplete process of the historical narrative.
Founded in 2014, Studiocur/Art is a curatorial platform that showcases young upcoming artists whose contemporary language questions the present world. The curators of the exhibition Verto are Karina el Helou and Claire Craig.
